Hailed by The New York Times as one of Westchester's "most ambitious" choruses, the Hudson Valley Singers, under the direction of Eugene Sirotkine, Assistant Conductor at the Metropolitan Opera, invites experienced choral singers to come rehearse and perform Robert Schumann's exquisite yet seldomly heard Das Paradies und die Peri in the upcoming spring season.
This rarely staged piece by Schumann will debut at the New York Society for Ethical Culture on April 26, 2008. When last performed in the United States under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra, Rattle described this obscure work as “so beautiful that the music becomes unbearable.”
Joining us for this masterpiece will be the New York Metamophoses Orchestra and internationally renowned soloists including Carissa Castaldo, Natalya Kraevsky, Mary Ann McCormick, John Bernard, David Ekström, and Robert Garner.
The performance is 7pm on Saturday, April 26th at the Ethical Culture Society in New York City. Tickets purchased in advance are only $35 (students and seniors $25). You may purchase tickets securely online by clicking here. Or you may phone us at 914-674-2865 or email us at tickets@hudsonvalleysingers.org.
