 American soprano Carissa Castaldo is happy to be performing with the Hudson Valley Singers and New York Metamorphoses Orchestra, singing the role of the Peri in Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri, under the baton of Eugene Sirotkine.
Ms. Castaldo is currently an associate soprano at Metropolitan Opera, having had her debut in Prokovfiev’s War and Peace this past December. Carissa Castaldo was also cast in the new production of Britten’s Peter Grimes, which will be broadcast live from the Met stage into select movie theaters worldwide.
As a soloist, Ms. Castaldo has been seen as the Countess in the Marriage of Figaro, Musetta in La Boheme, and Adina in L’elisir d’amore in productions throughout NYC and Italy. One of her most memorable experiences was with Opera America in the NY premiere of Stephen Paulus’ Summer, singing the two roles of Ms. Hatchard and Ally Hawes.
With a Masters of Music completed from Manhattan School of Music, Ms. Castaldo continues her studies under Ruth Falcon, renowned soprano and teacher. Residing in Manhattan, Ms. Castaldo continues to immerse herself in the studies of opera and song, hosting concerts in personal residences throughout the city. This summer, Carissa plans to travel to Israel to sing with the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv.
